DLSS 5 Swapper Guide

Learn how to install DLSS 5 Swapper, scan PC games and supported emulators, apply DLSS 5 Neural Rendering in one click, and restore original files whenever you need to.

What is DLSS 5 Swapper

DLSS 5 Swapper finds games on your PC and installs DLSS 5 Neural Rendering in one click. It locates the executable, upgrades DLSS files in place, installs ReShade silently when needed, and backs everything up first. The DLSS 5 files, add-ons, and ReShade installer are bundled — nothing else has to be downloaded to install a game.
Use it on titles that already ship Super Resolution or Frame Generation, or on compatible games without native DLSS through the feeder path. Supported emulators appear in the same library.

Requirements:

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
  • An NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU (community builds cover RTX 20, 30, 40, and 50 series).
  • A current Game Ready driver. Official NVIDIA DLSS 5 is aimed at RTX 50, so image quality and performance can vary on older cards.
  • Visual C++ runtimes for the feeder path (x64, plus x86 for 32-bit games).

Download and Install

Get the latest Windows build from the Download page. Choose the installer for shortcuts and a clean uninstall, or the portable EXE if you prefer a single file.

First launch

  • Run DLSS5-Swapper-Setup or the portable EXE. No extra drivers or tools are required to begin.
  • Windows SmartScreen may warn that the app is unsigned. Only continue if you downloaded it from GitHub or Nexus Mods.
  • Open the app and let it build your library. Full-drive scanning is off by default; enable it in Settings if you want a deeper search.

Scan Your Library

DLSS 5 Swapper looks through Steam, Epic, GOG, modern Xbox Game Pass folders, and games or emulators you add yourself. Each card shows the rendering API, the DLSS version in the game, and whether an add-on is already installed.

If a title is missing:

  • Drag the game folder onto the app, or use Add a game and select the game root — not a folder that contains several titles.
  • Refresh or rescan from the library. Preloads and unfinished updates often stay hidden until the install is ready.
  • For emulators, add the emulator folder and pick its active renderer before you install.

Install DLSS 5 on a Game

Open a title and review what the app found. Then install DLSS 5. The app will:
  • Find the executable and tell it apart from a launcher. If a folder has more than one candidate — a DX11 and a DX12 build, for example — you pick.
  • Detect the graphics API from imports and neighbouring game DLLs. You can override the API per game if detection is wrong; Automatic is the default.
  • Locate existing DLSS files even when they are buried in subfolders.
  • Back up the originals before touching a single file.
  • Swap the files, place the add-on beside the executable, and install ReShade silently when the route needs it.

After you install

  • Launch the game and confirm DLSS 5 is active. On the ReShade route, press Home, open Add-ons, and check that DLSS Neural Rendering is listed.
  • In v2.2.1 you can press F8 to open the in-game overlay on supported 64-bit DX11/DX12 titles (DLSS5-Feeder and RenoDX v4.7 routes).
  • If the image looks off, close the game and use Restore originals in DLSS 5 Swapper.

Games Without Native DLSS

Games that never shipped nvngx_dlss.dll can still try DLSS 5 through the feeder path on supported DirectX, Vulkan, and OpenGL titles. The add-on builds the calls from the current frame, depth buffer, and motion data.

How to enable it

  • Open Add-ons in DLSS 5 Swapper.
  • Enable DX12 / DX11 / DX9 Support for a 64-bit game. Do not use the 64-bit add-on on a 32-bit title.
  • Go to your Game Library, select the game, and choose the feeder route if the app offers Native DLSS or DLSS5-Feeder.
  • Install DLSS 5, then launch the game and test it. Borderless or windowed mode is usually more stable on this path.

Restore, Updates, and Anti-Cheat

Restore originals puts every file back and removes what the app added. ReShade is removed only if DLSS 5 Swapper installed it. Use restore after a patch overwrites your setup, or before you play an online title.

Before you install:

  • Treat DLSS 5 Swapper as a single-player tool. Swapping or injecting files can look like tampering to VAC, Easy Anti-Cheat, BattlEye, and similar systems.
  • Skip competitive and live-service games. The app warns on anti-cheat titles; it does not bypass them.
  • Existing mods can conflict. Compatibility is not guaranteed — keep the backup and verify game files in Steam or Epic if you need a clean slate.
